Wellesley, Mass. – According to a new technical market research report, INFECTIOUS DISEASE TREATMENTS: GLOBAL MARKETS (PHM061A) from BCC Research (www.bccresearch.com), the value of the market for infectious disease treatments is an estimated $102.3 billion in 2010, but is expected to increase to $137.9 billion in 2014, for a 4-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.8%.
The largest segment of the market, viral disease therapeutics, is projected to increase at a CAGR of 12.1% to $79.2 billion in 2014, after being valued at an estimated $54.4 billion in 2010.

Infectious diseases were supposed to be vanquished in the 1960s. Today, some are more virulent than ever and others lurk just below the surface ready to strike without consistent use of preventive measures and constant vigilance.
The World Health Organization (WHO) noted that in 2008 the top causes of death due to infectious diseases worldwide were lower respiratory diseases (7.1% of all deaths), diarrheal diseases (3.7%), human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) (3.5%), and tuberculosis (2.5%).
This report organizes information from diverse sources into a cohesive unit that includes an overview, global implications of infectious diseases, infectious diseases by type, treatment and prevention, emerging pharmaceutical and industrial products, and an applicable patents section. Information is organized by type of infectious disease and appropriate treatments, both current and anticipated.
This information will be useful for those involved in strategic planning, and marketing and sales development.
