Flexible hose and tubing are established products, and their manufacture has become a moderately large and broad-based sector of the United States economy. Innovations within the industry are creating dynamic changes in what is essentially a stable market that grows at about the rate of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product.

Polymeric flexible hose and tubing are used in automotive, hydraulics, industrial and consumer/healthcare applications. Dynamic changes within the flexible hose and tubing market are driven not only by innovations within these industries, but also by the development of newer hose and tubing materials. Competition between synthetic elastomers and natural rubber is constant and causes fluctuations in the market value of these materials.
