REPORT SCOPE
INTRODUCTION
This BCC Research technology market research report provides an in-depth analysis of the global market for ozone technology across a range of applications including wastewater, potable and process water treatment, swimming pool and spa water disinfection, agriculture, aquaculture, hydroponics, laundry, landfill leachate treatment, groundwater remediation, air and gas purification, odor control, medicine, and homeland security. Technical and market drivers are considered in evaluating the current worth of the technologies and in forecasting growth and trends over the next 5 years. The conclusions are illustrated with statistical information on markets, applications, industry structure, and dynamics along with technological developments.
SCOPE OF STUDY
This report contains:
Descriptions of various types of ozone technologies, with current and potential applications for each
The current global market status of ozone technology, together with trends and forecasts of growth over the next 5 to 10 years
Technological issues, including the latest advances
A discussion of driving forces in the ozone technology industry on a global basis, including government regulations, research initiatives and pricing considerations
Profiles of ozone technology companies and a discussion of industry alliances.
METHODOLOGY
A comprehensive literature, patent, and Internet search was undertaken and key industry players were contacted. Growth rates were calculated based on existing equipment sales and proposed sales during the forecast period. Consumables used in competitive processes, such as replacement membranes, resins, etc., were also taken into account. Values are given in U.S. dollars; forecasts are made in constant U.S. dollars, and average annual growth rates are compounded.
Market size estimates are based on estimated ozone generator sales and predicted sales. Calculations do not include auxiliary gas contacting or delivery equipment and do not include design or engineering costs. The capital cost of ozone as applied to municipal and industrial-scale water treatment is broken into four broad categories dependent on plant size as outlined in Table 15. Capital equipment cost for air and gas treatment systems is figured at $300 for a residential unit and $800 for a commercial unit, medians calculated by averaging prices from five different manufacturers. Medical ozone generators are estimated to cost an average of about $1,000 based on data from two manufacturers.
INFORMATION SOURCES
In addition to data from BCC Research's related monthly newsletters, other information in this report was gleaned from many different sources. SEC filings, annual reports, patent literature, business, scientific and industry journals, government reports, census information, conference literature, patent documents, on-line resources, and industry participants have all been researched.
