  • The world market for drugs to treat mental, emotional and behavioral problems in children and adolescents is estimated at $13.4 billion in 2005 and is expected to rise at an average annual growth rate (AAGR) of 7.2% to $19 billion in 2010.
  • Antianxiety drugs and antidepressants currently represent the largest market, but will rise at an AAGR of only 5.5% through the period.
  • Drugs for bipolar, autistic, eating disorders and schizophrenia will fare somewhat better, rising at an AAGR of 5.8% to $4.1 billion in 2010.
  • The category that includes ADHD and conduct and learning disorders will rise the fastest at an AAGR of 9.7% to become the largest segment in 2010 at $8.1 billion.
