Energy Retrofits for Commercial and Public Buildings: Global Markets

  • Among the energy retrofit technologies examined in this study, the HVAC segment has emerged as the largest market in the building retrofit industry.  The total market for HVAC equipment for public buildings and private commercial buildings is likely to increase from $43.7 billion in 2010 to $71.2 billion to 2015, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.3%.
  • The green roof industry is likely to emerge as the industry to watch.  This sector is poised to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 15.5% between 2010 and 2015. The total market for green roofs for public buildings and private commercial buildings is likely to increase from $1.9 billion in 2010 to approximately $3.7 billion in 2015.
