INTRODUCTION
STUDY OBJECTIVES
BCC’s goal in conducting this study is to provide an overview of the current and future characteristics of the global market for fetal monitoring and diagnosis, including neonatal monitoring. The key objective is to present a comprehensive analysis of the current market and its future direction in the fetal and neonatal monitoring market with the utilization of the techniques and devices available for preventing fetal diseases.
This report explores present and future strategies within the fetal monitoring and diagnosis market, including prenatal and neonatal monitoring and diagnosis. The market’s current state, its setbacks, its innovations, and its future needs are discussed in this report. A general overview of fetus testing techniques and devices, as well as related technologies used currently and in the past, are discussed in this report.
A detailed analysis of the fetal and neonatal monitoring and diagnosis industry structure has been conducted. This includes all the categories of monitoring and diagnosis broken down by market share that belong to leading manufacturers and/or suppliers. Revenues for each of the categories are broken down by region. Sales figures are estimated for the 5-year period from 2011 through 2016.
Applications for fetal monitoring and diagnosis, (including neonatal monitoring) for usage in antepartum and intrapartum are also discussed separately in the report by region. The markets in diagnosing cardiopulmonary diseases in neonates are also studied. The report includes significant patents and their allotments in each category of fetal monitoring and diagnosis.
REASONS FOR DOING THIS STUDY
This study was conducted to provide vital and detailed information regarding fetal and neonatal monitoring and diagnosing. This industry is experiencing growth, as the concept of fetus as a patient has changed the entire industry. Technological advancements have made it possible to access and monitor the fetus. This study was conducted to provide detailed analysis of the market along with the different factors that affect it. The rising number of high-risk pregnancies is placing greater demands of advanced fetal–maternal monitoring during both the antepartum and intrapartum delivery of care during pregnancy.
Acquisitions, mergers, and alliances by companies and global organizations are covered in this report. The study also discusses the strengths and weaknesses of each category of fetal monitoring and diagnosis in addition to new technologies and developments, manufacturer and supplier competition, and the changing environment of the market due to the increasing awareness of expectant mothers.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
This study contributes to the areas of market growth in the arena of devices and predictive tests used during various stages of pregnancy that may help prevent some diseases through early detection. It will be of interest to clinicians, physicians, the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, hospitals, and research institutions.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The scope of this study encompasses the fetal monitoring and diagnostics markets. BCC analyzes each market and its applications by its need for usage in different stages of pregnancy, along with the regulatory environment, technology involved, market projections, and market share. Technological issues include the latest trends and developments.
METHODOLOGY
Both primary and secondary research methodologies were used in preparing this study. BCC conducted a comprehensive literature search that included technical newsletters and journals, as well as many other sources. Data were collected through interviews and correspondence with various pharmaceutical and biotechnical experts. Projections were based on estimates such as the current number of end users, potential end users, mergers and acquisitions, and market trends.
INFORMATION SOURCES
Many companies within the industry were surveyed to obtain data for this study. Also included were manufacturers, end users of pharmaceuticals and devices, and hospitals. Data were gathered from various industry sources. BCC spoke with officials and physicians within the industry, and also consulted newsletters, company literature, product literature, technical articles, journals, indexes, and abstracts. Exhaustive investigations of databases by key terminology were completed. In addition, data were compiled from current financial, trade, and government sources.
