INTRODUCTION
BCC's goal in conducting this study was to find and present the greatest growth opportunities in the global water and wastewater equipment market through 2012. In order to accomplish this, we sought both the technologies with the greatest growth opportunities as well as the geographic areas with the greatest growth in demand. After finding the top markets poised for growth, BCC sought to assimilate and present these findings in a way that parallel trends and conclusions could be applied to other emerging markets as well.
SCOPE OF STUDY
This report:
- Projects global opportunities and export markets for U.S. water technologies and forecasts trends and revenues in these markets through the year 2012.
- Analyzes markets for process equipment: separation, mixing, destruction, chemical feed equipment, water and wastewater treatment, etc.; delivery equipment: pumps, pumping equipment, industrial valves, etc.; chemicals: activated carbon, aluminum sulfate, calcium hydroxide and specialty chemicals, such as certain polymeric materials used in filtration devices; instrumentation: process control instruments, analytical instruments, and on-line analyzers; engineering services for water and wastewater treatment projects and many other key market segments.
- Covers the important manufacturers, technologies and key factors driving demand trends.
- Includes both developed and developing countries.
- Includes government regulations, industry structure, major companies and market shares, trends in price and price/performance.
- Evaluates patents, provides R&D update and complete company profiles.
METHODOLOGY
After determining the major water and wastewater technologies that have the greatest demand and potential for growth, we examined the world market to find the greatest growth opportunities for these technologies. We evaluated each country according to its overall water demand, population growth, domestic and foreign competition, available financing and percent of the total market. Then we conducted a detail analysis of the top five growth markets (China, India, Mexico, Egypt and Australia) according to the determined technologies and forecasted the growth for each.
INFORMATION SOURCES
BCC surveyed approximately 52 companies to obtain data for this study. Included were manufacturers of all of the various technologies and related products. We also spoke with WWT trade and association representatives. Data were compiled from current financial and trade organizations as well as from government sources.
