1927 Volvo was founded and started the first series-manufacturing of the Volvo car, the Volvo ÖV4, and rolled off the production line on the island of Hisingen, Göteborg. 
1941 Volvo acquired a majority shareholding in Svenska Flygmotor, later renamed Volvo Aero.
1969 Volvo acquired the Olofström plant, a company founded as early as 1735 (though later renamed Volvo Olofströmsverken), which has supplied bodies and components to Volvo since the early days.
2000 Volvo AB has taken control of North America’s oldest trucking company, acquiring century-old Mack Trucks with its $2-billion takeover of parent company Renault VI’s trucking business.

2024 Volvo Buses established partnerships with Optibus and Stoneridge to make Optibus’ public transport management software and Stoneridge’s data and artificial intelligence fuel advice solution available to Volvo Buses’ customers in selected markets as pilot modes.
