| 1919 | Corbion (then CSM) started as a domestic sugar processing company in 1919 called NV Centrale Suiker Maatschappij (CSM, Central Sugar Company), based in the Netherlands. |
| 1968 | CSM started a joint venture called the Chemie Combinatie Amsterdam, or CCA, which became a significant producer of fermentative (natural) lactic acid and lactic acid derivatives. |
| 1986 | CSM acquired Louis Ayuso SA, a Spanish lactic acid producer, and C.J. Patterson, an American producer of bakery ingredients. These two companies then merged to form American Ingredients Company. |
| 2013 | CSM divested its bakery supplies businesses and changed its name to Corbion to reflect its focus on bio-based products. |
| 2019 | Corbion acquired Granotec do Brazil, a specialist in functional blends for the Brazilian bakery industry. |
| 2021 | Granolife, a key player in functional blends for the Mexican bakery and fortification industries, was acquired by Carbion. |
