1908 Kawamura established Kawamura Ink Manufactory, set up a plant in Tokyo, installed three gas engine–powered 8x12-inch roll mills, and launched operations.
1912 Kawamura changed the company name to Kawamura Kijuro Shoten.
1919 Kawamura Kijuro Shoten commences operations overseas in Hankow, China.
1925 Launch of production of own supply of organic pigments becoming a manufacturer of fine chemicals.
1937 Incorporates Dainippon Printing Ink Manufacturing Co. Ltd.
1952 Dainippon Printing Ink Manufacturing Co. Ltd., in a joint venture with Reichhold Chemicals Inc., established Japan Reichhold Chemicals Inc. in the U.S.
1954 A technology cooperation agreement was initiated with Sun Chemical Corporation of the U.S.
1962 Acquired Japan Reichhold Chemicals Inc. and changed the Company name to Dainippon Ink and Chemicals Inc., and Exported technology to an Australian manufacturer of inks.
1968 Launch of the DIC Color Guide and develop production method for epoxy resins. 
1969 Started manufacturing polystyrene and, in the same year, established Dainippon Ink & Chemicals (Europe) GmbH.
1970 Enters the market for coextruded multilayered films for packaging and development of Daicure, Japan's first UV-curable ink, and Establishes Dainippon Ink & Chemicals, Americas, Inc. (USA) and Dainippon Ink & Chemicals (H.K.) Ltd.
1980 Begins production of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compounds and establishes a representative office in Sydney, Australia.
1986 DIC acquires the graphic arts materials division of U.S. firm Sun Chemical.
1997 Establishes Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) in a joint venture with Eastman Kodak Company of the U.S.
2002 Builds a mother plant for printing inks and organic pigments in Nantong, the People's Republic of China, and another plant to produce synthetic resins for coatings in Zhongshan, the People's Republic of China.
2005 Builds plant to produce synthetic resins and plastic colorants in Zhangjiagang, in the People's Republic of China. 
2008 Changes Company name to DIC Corporation.
2015 Complete reconstruction of corporate headquarters in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, and the company selected for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices Asia Pacific Index.
2021 DIC Corporation acquires the Colors & Effects business of BASF SE.
