1946	Hugh Knowles founded Knowles Electronics to develop miniature microphones and speakers for use in hearing aids, which were bulky devices at the time.
2005	Dover Corp's subsidiary, Dover Electronics, acquired Knowles Electronics for $750 million to expand its foothold in high-performance transducers for hearing aids.
