1877	The Bell Telephone Company was formed in Boston.
1885	American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T) company was officially incorporated.
1899	Bell System is now a subsidiary of AT&T.
1999-1900
1910	The federal government stepped in to regulate the price of telephone calls between states to prevent monopoly.
1927	AT&T’s president introduced a transatlantic telephone service between New York City and London.
1942	Verizon is the first to develop an all-cable link between coasts.
1949	AT&T introduces the Model 500 rotary telephone.
1962	Telstar, the first telecommunications satellite, was launched in Cape Canaveral.
1995	Bell Atlantic partners with NYNEX, a fellow Baby Bell, to develop Bell Atlantic Mobile.

2000	First digital service compatible with TTY.
