Cardiovascular Devices: Technologies and Global Markets
December 15, 2009
Wellesley, Mass. – According to a new technical market research report, CARDIOVASCULAR DEVICES: TECHNOLOGIES AND GLOBAL MARKETS (HLC065A) from BCC Research (www.bccresearch.com), the global market for cardiovascular devices is expected to be valued at an estimated $84.7 billion in 2010, but to increase to $97.4 billion in 2015, for a 5-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.8%.
The largest segment of the market, interventional devices, is projected to reach $74 billion in 2015, after increasing at a CAGR of 2.4% from its 2010 value of $65.6 billion.
Diagnostic devices, which make up the second-largest segment of the market, are estimated to be valued at $14.1 billion in 2010, and to increase at a CAGR of 2.6% to reach $16 billion by 2015.
The smallest segment, support components for cardiovascular devices, is expected to increase at a CAGR of 8% from more than $5 billion in 2009 to $7.4 billion in 2015.
Because of aging world populations and many other contributory factors, including generally poor dietary habits and widespread obesity, cardiovascular diseases are increasing dramatically.
Cardiovascular devices are primarily divided into diagnostic devices and therapeutic devices.
Diagnostic devices include electrophysiology lab systems, vascular probes, arterial and venous diagnoses, electroanatomical mapping systems, transesophageal atrial pacing devices, stress-testing equipment, ECG monitors, cardiovascular ultrasound, computed tomography, radiography and other noninvasive scanning systems, volumetric and pressure measurement, heartbeat and echo-imaging devices, fluoroscopy diagnostics, and other investigational diagnostic devices.
Therapeutic devices and systems include defibrillators, interventional and treatment X-ray, cardiovascular surgical equipment and devices, and condition-specific therapeutic devices and peripherals.
It is important for business people within the industry and considering investment or divestiture of investments to understand the current overall landscape of the industry for cardiovascular devices. This research report will identify many companies offering innovative and more conventional equipment relating to cardiovascular devices, including current and forecast revenues, and targeted population disease and condition statistics as they are available.
