WELLESLEY, Mass., Aug 02, 2018, 2018 – Due to being able to treat and diagnose oral complications in advance, along with independently performing small procedures, the global market for dental imaging systems is experiencing solid growth, according to a recent report from BCC Research.
As outlined in the report “Dental Imaging Systems: Global Markets to 2023,” the global market for dental imaging systems was valued at $2.2 billion in 2018. The market is estimated to reach $3.4 billion by 2023, indicating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.2%.
Dental imaging can be performed using conventional films, digital sensors, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanners and intra-oral cameras, depending on the purpose and complexity of diagnosis. Using digital imaging techniques may offer reduced radiation exposure, when compared with conventional film radiography.
“Dental radiography and imaging can help the dental practitioner evaluate and definitively diagnose many oral diseases and conditions, to find hidden dental structures, malignant or benign masses, and identify bone-loss and cavities,” the report notes. “It is also used to identify impacted wisdom teeth, jaw bone pathologies, temporomandibular joint conditions, as well as aid in the planning and execution of therapeutic procedures like implants, root canal treatments and other maxillofacial surgeries.”
