WELLESLEY, Mass., March 20, 2019— A new report from BCC Research, “Laboratory Animal Models, 3D Cultures, and Organoids,” predicts that by 2023, the global market for laboratory animal models is estimated to reach $7.8 billion, up from $5.9 billion in 2018, indicating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.6%.
The current market and technology environment are at a point where the established laboratory animal model industry is facing the newly emerging adoption of 3D cell culture systems and their applications. This new momentum has driven personalization and the need to obtain results quickly, animal models’ inability to provide a personalized approach to patients and the need for faster and more reliable screening at a favorable price.
