  • The global market for MEMS devices and production equipment was worth $7.2 billion in 2008, and $7.6 billion in 2009. This market will reach $13.2 billion in 2014, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.8% between 2009 and 2014.
  • Microfluidic MEMS were the largest segment of the MEMS market in 2008 but are expected to lose market share. This sector was valued at $3.5 billion in 2009 and is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4% to reach $4.3 billion in 2014.
  • Accelerometers, which have a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29.9% through 2014, are expected to be the second-largest MEMS market segment (after microfluidics MEMS), with more than 20% of the market. This sector was valued at $720 million in 2009 and is expected to be worth $2.7 billion by 2014.
