1837 AGL Energy Limited was founded in 1837. It was initially established as the Australian Gas Light Company.
1976 AGL introduced natural gas to Sydney and installed the longest pipeline in Australia, which went to South Australia.
2007 AGL purchased the 1,280 MW gas-fired Torrens Island Power Station, the largest generator in South Australia.
