Air Liquide started providing products and services in the hydrogen industry in 1995. The company provides industrial gases and services that operate in 73 countries and has 600 production units globally. It also produces hydrogen and gas pipeline networks. The company invests in R&D of new technologies, which is reflected in the 350 new patents filed by the company in 2022. Air Liquide has also invested in 400 innovative partnerships with academic institutions, industries and start-ups. The company invested around $108 million in innovation spending for energy transition, particularly for developing low-carbon hydrogen and biomethane. The company aims to invest $8.6 billion in a low-carbon hydrogen value chain by 2035.
Air Liquide hydrogen sales currently stand at 12 million tons, with an annual revenue of $2.2 billion. The company is pioneering the entire hydrogen value chain, which includes production, transportation, storage and distribution. The group operates in three segments: gas and services (large industries, industrial merchant, healthcare and electronics), engineering and construction and global markets
and technologies.
