AKADEUM LIFE SCIENCES
Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Akadeum Life Sciences, founded in 2014, is developing microbubble-based separations technology for collecting rare cells or molecules, including CTCs in liquid biopsy applications.
The microbubbles are functionalized with antibodies specific for the cellular target of interest. The microbubbles are low-density glass-shelled air-filled bubbles. These bubbles are designed to have the correct size, density and surface area for high performance.
The separations method competes with magnetic bead-based isolation techniques for isolating rare cells from blood.
In June 2020 Akadeum partnered with NanoCellect Biomedical to develop better rare cell workflows, including improving the accuracy and reliability of measurements of certain types of cells
In addition to liquid biopsy applications, Akadeum is pursuing applications in DNA and protein separations and food pathogen detection.
