Akron is a manufacture-based pharmaceutical company engaged in the development, manufacturing and supply of over-the-counter (OTC) animal healthcare and branded generic pharmaceutical products. 

Akron’s consumer healthcare portfolio includes different formulations of OTC drugs. TheraTears is a group of therapeutic eye care medicines, including eye nutrition supplements, eyelash and eyelid cleansing foam, and eye therapy lubricating eye drops. Others OTC products include Sinus Buster, Zostrix, MagOx, Multi-betic Maginex, Diabetic Dia-Derm and Tussin. The company’s animal healthcare products include veterinary sedatives VetaKet and Anased, the sedative reversing agents Yobine and Tolazine, a pain reliever and Butorphic. The company also markets a wide range of respiratory and branded ophthalmic products, including Cosopt PF, Zioptan, Cosopt, Betimol, AzaSite, Xopenex and Akten Gel, which are used in the treatment of glaucoma, bacterial conjunctivitis and bronchospasm. In June 2019, Akron announced plans to launch Loteprednol Etabonate Ophthalmic Suspension, a product for the treatment of steroid responsive inflammatory and post-operative inflammation.

Akron’s manufacturing facilities are located in Somerset, N.J.; Decatur, Ill.; Amityville, N.Y.; and Himachal Pradesh, India; and Hettlingen, Switzerland.
