1967	Balchem was founded by entrepreneurs, investors, and Dr. Leslie Balassa, an expert in encapsulation. The company was initially housed in a laboratory on the top floor of the Chemists Club in New York City until purchasing its first manufacturing site, a former dairy in Slate Hill, New York.
2019	The company acquired Chemogas, NV, a privately held specialty gas company headquartered in Grimbergen, Belgium, to expand its geographic presence in the packaged ethylene oxide market. This enabled the company to offer worldwide service and support to its medical device sterilization customers.
2019	The company acquired Zumbro River Brand Inc., a Minnesota-based company specializing in developing, marketing, and manufacturing agglomerated and extruded products for the food and beverage industry. Zumbro was integrated within Balchem’s Human Nutrition and Health segment.
2022	The company acquired Kappa Bioscience AS, a science-based manufacturer of specialty vitamin K2 for the human nutrition industry, headquartered in Oslo, Norway. The acquisition expanded the company's portfolio of science-based specialty nutrients with leading positions in growing markets.
2022	Balchem acquired Cardinal Associates Inc., operating as “Bergstrom Nutrition,” a science-based methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) manufacturer based in Vancouver, Washington. Bergstrom Nutrition was included in Balchem’s Human Nutrition and Health business segment and integrated into the Minerals & Nutrients business unit.
