Ballard Power Systems
Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Ballard Power Systems designs and manufactures proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell products for material handling, portable power, and backup power applications. It offers a range of products, including heavy-duty modules, fuel cell stacks, membrane electrode assemblies, bipolar plates, stack design, and backup power systems. It offers products for various applications, including transit buses, automobiles, trucks, rail, material handling, critical infrastructure, defense, and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Ballard Power Systems reuses PEM fuel cell stacks, replacing only the membrane electrode assembly and other components. The membrane electrode assemblies are sent to a precious metal reclaimer. It recycles it with the help of carbon bipolar plates and disassembles stacks to recycle fuel cell components and metals using conventional recycling methods. It has manufacturing facilities in China, the U.S., and Europe, with presence across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
