Battelle is an independent nonprofit applied science and technology organization. It supports a diverse spectrum of clients, from small start-up companies to multinational corporations and government agencies. Battelle serves the national security, health and life sciences, and energy and environmental industries. Battelle owns facilities in the U.S. and Europe and manages about 10 Department of Energy-sponsored labs, including Brookhaven National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

In February 2022, R&D powerhouses the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Battelle have partnered with industry and other key stakeholders to accelerate the demonstration and deployment of new low-carbon clean energy technologies. The unique agreement between EPRI and Battelle, in collaboration with U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) national laboratories, will engage diverse energy representatives from technology developers to energy companies involved in the research, development, demonstration and deployment (RDD&D) of the low-carbon energy transformation.
