1999	BGI was established.
2000	The rice genome project was launched.
2007	Shenzhen BGI Research Institute was established.
2015	BGISEQ-500, the first proprietary desktop high-throughput sequencing system, was launched globally.
2020	BGI Genomics successfully developed the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid testing kits.
2021	BGI-Research Sanya was unveiled, and collaborated with six units to create a global big data center of zoology and botany.
