1873 Dr. Heinrich Byk founded a chemical factory in Berlin under his name, in which he initially produced sleeping pills. 
1975 BYK added the first PVC additives to its portfolio with DISPERPLAST-A and DISPERPLAST-O, thus adding a new area to the additives business for the first time.
1991 BYK expanded its product portfolio to include wax additives with the acquisition of the Dutch company CERA Chemie.
