CASZYME
Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Founded in 2017, CasZyme develops and commercializes CRISPR-based tools and novel Cas enzymes for the gene-editing markets.
A key alliance (October 2017) for the company was with DowDuPont Pioneer (Pioneer), who agreed to work with CasZyme to discover new CRISPR-Cas nucleases. Pioneer is focused on using CRISPR-Cas tools for the development of new seed products in its advanced plant breeding business, and thus it is likely that this alliance will initially focus on agricultural applications.
In December 2017, Caszyme formed an alliance with New England Biolabs (NEB) to identify and commercialize CRISPR-Cas nucleases. The alliance characterizes new CAS nucleases using the partners’ expertise in enzymology, and NEB manufactures and distributes the nucleases on a global basis.
