1981	FARO, founded in 1981 by Simon Raab and Greg Fraser (originally as Res-Tech) in Montreal, Canada, is a pioneer in 3D measurement, imaging, and realization solutions
2020	FARO launched FARO Trek, a fully autonomous 3D mobile-scanning integration developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts-based robotics firm Boston Dynamics.
2022	FARO acquired UK-based GeoSLAM, a provider of mobile scanning solutions with proprietary high-productivity simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) software.
2025	AMETEK Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, acquired FARO Technologies. FARO joins Creaform and Virtek as part of AMETEK’s Ultra Precision Technologies Division.
