GLOBAL THERMOSTAT (ZERO CARBON SYSTEMS)
Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Global Thermostat develops technologies to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere or from industrial emissions. Its primary focus is on DAC technology, which involves removing CO2 directly from the air. Its DAC technology uses a solid sorbent material to capture CO2 from the air and then used it for various purposes, such as carbon sequestration or conversion into valuable products. The company is currently operating multiple DAC facilities in the U.S. It recently unveiled its one of the largest facilities in Colorado, U.S. in 2023. This facility has the capacity to capture around 1,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.
In 2024, the company in acquired by Zero Carbon Systems (ZCS) to accelerate the deployment of its DAC technology. ZCS is dedicated to developing highly scalable, cost-effective, and energy-efficient DAC solutions to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Their innovative continuous process design, powered entirely by renewable energy, enables constructing large-scale, high-throughput units. This approach optimizes economics and positions ZCS to significantly remove 0.5 gigatons of CO₂ per year by 2050, as supported by Zero Carbon Partners. Aligned with its carbon neutrality goals, the company has plans to own and operate a 2,500-ton-per-year demonstration plant in 2025-2026, a 50,000-ton commercial plant by 2028, and a million-ton scale plant by 2030.
