Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Alpinion Medical Systems was initially established in 2007 as VIMED. In 2008, the company was acquired by the Iljin Group, and in 2009, Alpinion USA was established. Immediately after Alpinion USA’s establishment, clinical HIFU development was initiated. The company is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. Since its inception, the company has been offering ultrasound devices. It currently has more than 300 employees, half of which are research and development (R&D) engineers.
Alpinion Medical Systems designs, develops, manufacturers and markets diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound systems for general imaging, veterinary, women’s health, cardiology and musculoskeletal, head and neck exam applications. The four core technology offerings are diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound transducer technology, imaging platforms and therapeutic ultrasound devices. The company entered the therapeutic ultrasound market in 2011 with the launch of a compact therapeutic ultrasound device intended for pre-clinical use. VIFU 2000, the therapeutic ultrasound system, is a pre-clinical high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) device used to investigate a range of HIFU applications in small animals. The company also offers Alpius 900, a therapeutic ultrasound guided HIFU system for the treatment of uterine fibroids.
Alpinion Medical Systems expanded its ultrasound portfolio with the launch of E-CUBE i7, the portable ultrasound system, in 2015. The portable ultrasound E-CUBE i7 ultrasound system offers various transducers for different clinical applications, including point-of-care applications, anesthesiology, pain management, orthopedic/MSK and emergency medicine. The device features advanced image optimization technology capable of supporting both routine and specialty application needs, such as Needle Vision Plus, a device that makes a needle visible without degrading the surrounding tissue image, thus facilitating quick needle guidance to the target anatomy. The E-CUBE i7 system is described as the first laptop-style ultrasound system with a sliding keyboard cover.
