LanzaTech
Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Founded in 2005, LanzaTech develops and commercializes a gas fermentation process that produces fuel ethanol and chemicals from renewable, non-food resources, including industrial flue gases and other waste gases, such as those produced from the gasification of municipal solid waste and waste biomass. The company also develops bio-catalytic toolkits for gas fermentation microbes.
LanzaTech is developing a fermentation process to convert CO2 back into chemicals such as acetic acid, using modified microorganisms. Because the market for acetic acid can be easily saturated, LanzaTech is also looking into the conversion of the acetic acid into lipids for the production of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.
