1905 Ransom E. Olds, the creator of the Oldsmobile, formed REO Motor Company, which evolved into the Nuclear Corporation of America and ultimately Nucor.
1962 Nucor entered the American steel industry by acquiring Vulcraft, a producer of steel joists and girders, and hiring Ken Iverson to run Vulcraft.
1979 The company entered the cold-finish market with a new mill in Norfolk, Nebraska.
