Company Overview

Preem AB is wholly owned by Preem Holding AB. The industrial firm OK Petroleum changed its name to Preem, short for Preeminent, in May 1996. With an annual capacity to refine more than 18 million m3 of crude oil, Preem is Sweden’s major fuel company serving across Northwest Europe. We refine and supply businesses and consumers in Sweden and internationally with gasoline, diesel, heating oil, and renewable fuels. Preem provides heating and energy products to more than half of Sweden’s industrial businesses and a third of its small businesses. Preem maintains a national service network with over 570 fuel stations for commercial and private traffic.

The number of employees in the company accounted for 1,557, of which 1,443 were employed in the parent company. Of these, roughly 1,100 people work at Preem’s refineries. Including employees at distributors and partners, over 3,000 employees meet the customers under the Preem brand.

The company’s major operations consist predominantly of refining crude oil in the refineries in Lysekil and Gothenburg. Most of the crude oil that Preem purchases comes from the North Sea. Other crude oil is sourced mainly from West Africa and the U.S. In 2022, total production was 18.9 million cubic meters.
