| 1868 | Högbo Stål & Jernwerks AB acquired at the distress sale and the company is reconstructed under the name Sandvikens Jernverks AB. |
| 1972 | The company changed its name to Sandvik AB from Sandvikens Jernverks AB. |
| 1992 | Sandvik acquired 25% of the Finnish producer of rock-drilling equipment, Tamrock. |
| 1993 | The company introduced Sandvik Nanoflex material for eye surgery and electric shaver heads to be used in various new medical and environmental engineering applications. |
| 1996 | Sandvik acquired 42% of Kanthal and 49% of the Finnish company Tampella, parent company to Tamrock which is already partly owned by Sandvik. |
