Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd. is a supplier of a wide range of chemicals, including PVC, chlor-alkali, silicones, specialty chemicals, electronic materials, processed plastics and semiconductor silicon wafers. The company has manufacturing operations in Japan and worldwide.
Shin-Etsu offers 300 mm wafers and epitaxial wafers, which are used in a wide range of semiconductor solutions. It provides compound semiconductor wafers: gallium phosphide, aluminum gallium indium phosphide and GaAs. The company claims to be able to manufacture 300 mm wafers with heights up to 1 m. It started mass production of 300 mm wafers in 2001 through its Shin-Etsu Handotai (SEH) division. The 300 mm lineup consists of standard, laser direct cleaving (LDC) and near-perfect crystal (NPC) wafers. The company also supplies IG-NANA wafers for memory and logic device applications.
Shin-Etsu provides thin-film SOI wafers in 150 mm, 200 mm and 300 mm diameter dimensions with film thicknesses of 50 nm to 100 nm and thick-film SOI wafers in 125 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm diameter dimensions with film thicknesses of 1.5 microns and above.
