1999	After its spinoff from parent Western Wireless on May 3, 1999, VoiceStream Wireless was purchased by Deutsche Telekom AG in 2001 for $35 billion and renamed T-Mobile USA, Inc., in July 2002.
2002	American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines partnered with T‑Mobile to provide ‘Wi-Fi’ (802.11b) wireless broadband Internet access in each airline's clubs and lounges nationwide.
2004	Comcast Cable and T-Mobile USA Inc. collaborated to offer the T-Mobile HotSpot Wi-Fi Internet service to Comcast’s nearly five million high-speed Internet customers.
2008	The company acquired SunCom Wireless for approximately $2.4 billion in cash and assumed debt to expand its network and industry-leading customer service to the Southeastern United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
