Company Overview

With a strong presence in retail and architectural coatings, Teknos Group Oy is the top supplier of industrial coatings in Scandinavia. Teknos is one of the biggest family-owned companies. In addition to operating in Scandinavia, Germany, the UK, Poland, Slovenia, and Russia, the company also conducts business through a solid network of agents and representatives in about 20 additional European nations. There are 16 sites and about 1,800 employees working for the company.

Teknos tried to understand the effects of its emissions in 2021. The project started by estimating Teknos' own operations' carbon footprint, including business buildings and cars (Scope 1) as well as that of external sources of power, heating, and cooling (Scope 2). Teknos kept working on cutting-edge initiatives involving packaging with less environmental impact and renewable raw materials.

As part of the SUSBINCO research consortium, which aims to create bio-based binders and coatings, Teknos participated. The company also just introduced a new product with packaging made of 90% recycled plastic.

Teknos was one of the top 5 percent of EcoVadis-assessed enterprises in 2021 after receiving the EcoVadis Gold Recognition Level certification. This honor shows support for Teknos' ongoing sustainability efforts. Another measurable milestone in Teknos' sustainability efforts was the linking of some of its sustainability goals to its bank loan margin.
