Tianan Biologic Material Company Ltd. manufactures, develops and distributes polyhydroxy-butyrate-co-valerate (PHBV). This product is derived from corn and these biodegradable and bio-based polymers are used in injection-molded containers, bottles, paper-coated paper products, thermoformed non-clear products, plastic cards, medical materials (sutures), blown films, mulch films, compost bags, food packaging materials and mobile electronic parts.

Tianan uses natural bacterial strains instead of genetically-modified strains for biological fermentation. The company has a production capacity of 2,000 metric tons per annum and became the first company in the world to produce PHBV using water-based extraction technology reducing production costs. Major end-use industries for the company’s products are food and pharmaceutical packaging.
