1926 Toray Industries Inc. was founded as Toyo Rayon Co. Ltd.
1941 Toyo Rayon Co. Ltd. succeeded in synthesis and melt spinning of nylon 6 fiber (Shiga). The fiber was named "AMILAN" the following year.
1941 The company established the Aichi Plant.
1944 It acquired Showa Industry Co. Ltd. (now Toray Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd.) 
1951 Toyo Rayon established the Nagoya Plant and started production of Nylon 6.
1953 The company established Toyo Nylon Knit Products (now Toray Textiles Inc.) and started Marketing AMILAN nylon resin.
1956 The company has established Central Research Laboratories in Shiga.
1960 Established Okazaki Plant, Toyo Construction Co., Ltd. (now Toray Engineering Co., Ltd.), and Toyo Rayon Science Foundation (now the Toray Science Foundation).
1963 The company established Thai Toray Textile Mills Co., Ltd. (now Thai Toray Textile Mills Public Company Limited) and Toray Nylon Thai Co., Ltd. (now Thai Toray Synthetics Co., Ltd.) in Thailand.
1966 Toray Silicone Co. Ltd. (Now Dow Toray Co., Ltd. and DuPont Toray Specialty Materials K.K.) was established as a result of equal investment by Toyo Rayon and Dow Corning in the U.S.
1971 It Established P.T. Indonesia Toray Synthetics in Indonesia, Tokai Plant, and Gifu Plant. Test production of TORAYCA carbon fiber started in Shiga.
1973 The company Established Nan Sing Dyeing Works (Malaysia) (now Penfabric Sdn. Berhad).
1978 Toray Research Center Inc. was established.
1980 Toray Medical Co. Ltd. was established. Production of ROMEMBRA reverse-osmosis membrane elements began in Shiga.
1982 The company established Toray Industries Inc. in Seoul, Toray Construction Co. Ltd.and also it established Societe des Fibres de Carbone S.A. (SOFICAR) (now Toray Carbon Fibers Europe S.A.) in France to manufacture and market carbon fibers in Europe.
1988 Toray International Division was established to perform company-wide international strategies. The Affiliated Companies Division was established to centrally manage affiliated companies in Japan.
1990 Established Toray Industries Inc. Europe Office (now Toray Industries Europe GmbH in Germany) in the U.K. and Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad.
1992 Toray Composite (America) Inc. was established.
1995 It established STEMCO Ltd. In South Korea, Toray Fibers (Nantong) Co. Ltd. in China and Toray Philosophy system.
2000 Toray Advanced Computer Solution Inc. was established.
2002 The company Acquired fluorofiber business of Du Pont and established Toray Fluorofibers (America) Inc. in the U.S. and Toray Fibers & Textiles Research Laboratories (China) Co. Ltd. established in China.
2004 Toyo Metalizing Co. Ltd. and Toray Plastic Films Co. Ltd. merged to form Toray Advanced Film Co. Ltd. Suido Kiko Kaisha Ltd. and Chori Co. Ltd. became consolidated subsidiaries.
2009 Toray established Automotive & Aircraft Center  in Nagoya. It also Started operation of a new carbon-fiber prepreg facility at the Ishikawa Plant. And also it established water-treatment technology research and development base Toray Singapore Water Research Center at Nanyang Technological University.
2010 Toray Tonen Specialty Separator (now Toray Battery Separator Film Co., Ltd.) was established in Japan. Toray signs a long-term basic supply agreement with EADS (Airbus)- to supply carbon-fiber prepreg.
2011 Established Toray Advanced Film Kaohsiung Co. Ltd. in Taiwan, Toray Medical (Qingdao) Co. Ltd. in China, and Euro Advanced Carbon Fiber Composites GmbH in Germany.
2013 Acquired entire stake in Zoltek Companies Inc., a manufacturer of large tow carbon fibers, and DOME CARBON MAGIC LTD. (now Toray Carbon Magic Co. Ltd.).
2017 The company established Toray Composite Materials America Inc. in the U.S., UNIQLO, Toray hosted the Apparel Expo in New York, and Toray Polytech (Foshan) Co. Ltd. in China. 
2019 Toray established Toray Industries Hungary Kft. in Hungary, Toray Industries Korea Inc. in Korea, and the R&D Innovation Center in Shiga.
2022 The company has Developed Eco-Friendly PET Film Offering Excellent Applicability and Adhesion for Water-Based and Solvent-Free Coatings in Printing, Mold Release, and Adhesive Processing.
2023 It has Expanded Chemical-Recycled PBT Resin Products Employing Depolymerization and Repolymerization Technology. Developed TORAYCA T1200, the Ultra-High-Strength Carbon Fiber and Expanded Air Filter Business in India by Launching Production of High-Performance Offerings at Sri City Plant.
2024 Toray and Tsukuba University Launched Special Collaborative Drug Discovery and Medical Research Project to Enhance Healthy Longevity and Patient Quality of Life. Toray and PTT Global Chemical Agree to Explore Mass Production Technology to Build Supply Structure for Non-Edible Biomass-Derived Nylon.
2025 Toray Advances NANOALLOY Technology to Develop Nylon Resin with 4X Greater Damping than Conventional Materials and Improved Quietness and Moldability.
