Battery Separators (EGY199A)
Lithium-ion secondary battery separator
A separator is a fundamental constituent of a secondary Lithium-ion battery. It permits the flow of electric current between positive and negative nodes while preventing short-circuit-induced overheating and ignition. The lithium-ion secondary battery comprises four essential components: electrolytes, positive and negative electrode materials, and separators. Additionally, between twenty and thirty materials are present, including binder, additive agents, and metal foil. These four fundamental components determine a Lithium-ion secondary battery’s performance and material expense. In general, separators are constructed from microporous membranes, which separate positive and negative electrodes while facilitating the efficient passage of lithium ions. Polyolefin melts when a battery is abnormally elevated to seal micropores on the membrane and halt the flow of lithium ions, allowing the battery to deplete safely. Additionally, it is essential to ensure the protection of the battery.
