1964	Ion Exchange (India) Limited (IEIL) was incorporated as a 60% subsidiary of the UK-based Permutit Company and became a wholly owned Indian company in 1985.
1978	Ion Exchange (IEI) became the first company to introduce the Reverse Osmosis (RO) concept, applying it as a complementary technology to their existing ion exchange processes for water treatment in India.
1994	Ion Exchange is the first company to have an ISO 9001 & 14001 certified capacity expansion and complete automation of the ion exchange resins manufacturing facility in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India.
2010	The company introduced the largest reverse osmosis-based seawater desalination (SWD) plant in the industrial sector, which was commissioned for Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL).
2011	Ion Exchange was awarded a turnkey contract to construct an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) for Maruti Suzuki’s Greenfield project in Manesar, India.
2012	The company formed a joint venture with Safic Environmental Solutions, a South African company, to establish Ion Exchange Safic (Pty) Ltd (IES), a company focused on water and wastewater treatment solutions in South Africa and the SADC region.
2023	Ion Exchange Ltd. made its first foray into Europe by acquiring MAPRIL—Produtos Químicos e Maquinas Para a Industria, Lda, a Portuguese company that manufactures water treatment chemicals and equipment.
