Sulfuric Acid |
|
Nutrien's sulfuric acid is produced at select Nutrien facilities, Aurora (Colorado), White Springs (Florida), and Redwater (Alberta), using purchased sulfur as the primary feedstock. This sulfuric acid is an essential raw material within Nutrien's fertilizer manufacturing process, particularly for producing phosphate-based fertilizers such as phosphoric acid and derived products. This sulfuric acid is used both for in-house processing and as a key intermediate in nutrient manufacturing, where it reacts with phosphate rock to help form phosphoric acid, which is refined into commercial phosphate fertilizers. At the Aurora facility, the production process receives ammonia transported by rail and truck from Nutrien's production sites in Lima, Ohio, and Augusta, Georgia, to support integrated fertilizer synthesis.
