Company Overview
Nutrien Ltd. is a fertilizer manufacturing company that produces nitrogen, potash, and phosphate worldwide for agricultural, industrial, and feed use. In 2022, the company produced 7.1 million tons of grey and one million tons of blue ammonia.
The company had plans to produce 1.2 million tons of clean ammonia plant in Geismar, LA, by the end of 2027 at an estimated cost of around $2 billion. But, in 2023, the company halted the work because estimated capital costs had increased. The company said projected costs increased by “around 15-20pc” compared with initial estimates. Another reason for suspending the project was continued uncertainty on the timing of emerging uses for clean ammonia. However, the company informed us that it is halted only temporarily.
