Planmeca Oy was founded by Mr. Heikki Kyöstilä in 1971 and is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. Planmeca started as a small-scale business, manufacturing dental stools and instrument cabinets. The company has expanded its product range into patient chairs and dental units, 2D and 3D X-rays, CAD/CAM products and software solutions. The company is a manufacturer in many fields of healthcare technology and its products are available in more than 120 countries globally.

Planmeca Oy engages in the manufacture of dental imaging products, dental units, imaging software, veterinary solutions and CAD/CAM solutions for dentists, universities, clinics and hospitals, and dental laboratories. The company also offers mammography systems, dental instruments, dental supplies and services; desktop, mobile and cloud software; patient specific implants and 3D printing products; training for professionals and distributors; 3D imaging, 2D panoramic imaging, intraoral imaging and cephalometry products; and sovereign, compact, chair and other products.

The company has four types of imaging tools, 3D imaging, 2D, intraoral Imaging and cephalometry. In 3D imaging, the company offers various products such as the Planmeca Viso, Planmeca ProMax 3D s, Planmeca ProMax 3D Classic, Planmeca ProMax 3D Plus, Planmeca ProMax 3D Mid, Planmeca ProMax 3D Max, Planmeca ProFace, Endodontic Imaging Mode, etc. In 2D panoramic imaging, the company offers various products such as the Planmeca ProMax 2D S3, Planmeca ProMax 2D S2, Planmeca ProOne, etc. In Intraoral imaging, the company offers the Planmeca ProX, Planmeca ProSensor HD, Planmeca ProScanner, etc.
