Company Overview
Rion was founded in 1944 as Kobayasi-riken Co., Ltd. to commercialize products based on the results of research interests by Kobayasi Institute of Physical Research. It started to manufacture hearing aids and changed its name to Rion in 1960. The name was derived from the word Rionet, meaning hearing instruments. The company offers products through three segments: the Medical Instrument Division (which offers its hearing aids), Environmental Instrument Division and Particle Counter Division. The company holds a significant share of Japan’s hearing aid market.
The company has a broad geographic reach and has market presence in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, South America and Africa, through its distributor.
