Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Privately held Sion Power started in 1989 as Moltech, a spin-off from Brookhaven National Laboratory that concentrated on research and development. Since then, the business has expanded and drawn a remarkable team of scientists, engineers, and partners who have worked tirelessly to advance the technology required for the next generation of rechargeable batteries.
Over 100 people work for the organization, many of whom hold doctoral degrees. This outstanding group has obtained over 470 international patents and applications. The company's 67,000-square-foot production and research and development facility has labs for the test, analytical/materials analysis, and electronic assembly, in addition to a dry room for fabrication. The business also finished a 5,300-square-foot battery testing facility. The Licerion lithium metal technology, resulting from years of research and development, is poised to fundamentally alter the lithium battery industry by providing the highest possible combination of energy density and specific energy.
