1984	Korea Mobile Telecom Services was established as the largest mobile operator in Korea, with nearly 50% of the market share.
1997	Korea Mobile Telecom Services changed its name to SK Telecom.
2004	The company successfully launched its first satellite for mobile multimedia broadcasting (DMB) services across the globe.
2008	SK Telecom acquired SK Broadband (formerly Hanaro Telecom), a broadband service provider, for $1.2 billion.
2012	SK Telecom acquired Hynix for $3 billion, and when Hynix was incorporated into SK Group, its name was changed to SK Hynix.
2016	The company introduced NUGU virtual assistant service, which uses advanced voice recognition, natural language processing, and deep learning technology to help customers around the home.
2023	SK Telecom collaborated with Joby Aviation for their joint participation in the K-UAM Grand Challenge. The agreement confirms that Joby’s aircraft will support the development of Korea’s Urban Air Mobility sector through flight testing next year.
