SK Telecom provides products and services across ICT convergence areas that include hardware, telecommunication and related services. SK Telecom provides telecommunication convergence services including mobile, smart devices, M2M network service, sensor service, wireless network, cellular internet, and IoT solutions. It is developing 5G core technologies that include small cell, ultra wideband, low latency for remote driving, FDD/TDD convergence and gigabyte-level transmission of data. SK Telecom is also working on 5G technologies including a 5G chipset, device prototype, anchor booster cell, and massive MIMO. MEC technology will help achieving anchor booster cells that eventually will build up new business models. In 20q8 SK Telecom demonstrated 4.5G services across South Korea delivering speed of 700M b/sec to users and plans to achieve 1G b/sec transmission speed. It also deployed 5G-PON (Passive Optical Network) for a distribution network that can be delivered over both LTE and 5G communication services. SK Telecom also develops 5G repeater that can improve a signal over network and has already been tested in Seoul.
