2020 Stegra was founded as H2 Green Steel and later changed its name to Stegra in 2024. It focuses more on decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries, starting with steel.
2022 Stegra partnered with Midrex, a company specializing in direct reduction ironmaking technology for the steel industry, to build a facility for direct reduced iron (DRI) running on 100 percent green hydrogen, based on Midrex’s technology.
2023 Digital industrial solutions provider Mobilaris collaborated with Stegra to use digital solutions during the construction and later operations of the company's large-scale steel plant in Boden, northern Sweden.
2024 Aquatech, a provider of zero-liquid discharge water treatment services, partnered with Stegra to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain a new water treatment facility at Stegra’s industrial site in Boden.
