Company Overview

Synatics designs user interface solutions customized to consumer needs. The company delivers semiconductor solutions including connectivity products, audio input and output System-On-Chips, or SoCs, high-definition video and vision SoCs, touch controllers, display drivers, fingerprint sensors and touchpads, which comprise our semiconductor chip, firmware and software as a complete customer solution. The solutions provided by the company enable people to communicate with a range of mobile computing and communication tools.

Synaptics generates revenue from three broad product categories: the mobile product applications market, the personal computing product applications market, and the Internet of Things product market. As of June 27, 2020, the company had 1,851 active patents and 725 pending patent applications worldwide. 70% of Synaptics’ employees work in the fields of technology, engineering and product design.

In June 2017, Synaptics Inc. acquired Conexant Systems LLC and the multimedia solutions business of Marvell Technology Group. Conexant Systems is a supplier of voice and audio processing solutions for smart homes, whereas Marvell’s Multimedia Solutions Business sells advanced processing technology for video and audio applications.

The company offers advanced audio hardware and software solutions. It offers AudioSmart SoCs to deliver far-field performance for speech recognition systems, enabling seamless voice control of devices up to five meters away, even in noisy environments. Synaptic’s AudioSmart 2-mic and 4-mic advanced voice processing solutions offer identical performance to more expensive multi-microphone systems at reduced costs. For example, the Synaptics CX20924 is a high-performance, 4-mic far-field voice input processor System-on-Chip (SoC) with an integrated voice trigger function that supports a low system power Wake-on-Voice (WoV) function and 360-degree Smart Source Locator (SSL) that detects user's location around the device.
