Company Overview

Telstra Corp. Limited is an Australian telecommunications and media company that builds and operates telecommunications networks and markets voice, mobile, internet access, pay television and other entertainment products and services.

Telstra invested $10 million in the Centre for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T) at the University of New South Wales, has the long-term objective of offering “quantum computing as a service” to its customers.

In August 2017, the Commonwealth Bank joined Telstra, the Federal Government, the New South Wales Government, and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in a $83 million partnership to build Australia’s first quantum computing business.

In October 2021, Telstra laid out a roadmap for its long-planned entry into the edge compute market, hoping to offer infrastructure-as-a-service and a ‘marketplace’ of apps to branch sites Australia-wide. The company executive claims to soon offer Australia’s first 5G edge compute solution in future.
